We advise that children should have their first eye examination at around three years old. Learning difficulties can sometimes be caused by uncorrected vision problems so the earlier they are be detected the better the chance of correcting them.
Your child’s sight is precious. 1 in 5 children have an undetected eye problem, often accompanied by warning signs such as sitting too near to the television, or holding a book close up. An eye examination will reveal how their eyesight is developing and provide that essential early warning of possible problems.
If your child is under 16, they are entitled to a free eye test under the NHS system every 12 months (unless there is a clinical reason for this to be done more frequently).
If our test reveals that your child needs glasses, he or she may also qualify for a NHS voucher that entitles them to free standard lenses and a selected range of frames. Alternatively, for an additional charge, they can select frames from our extended ranges, all available at an affordable price.
